Matlock Bath is village in Derbyshire England,in the Peak District , it is south of Matlock. In 1698 warm springs were discovered and a Bath house was built., thence the name of the village. Matlock Bath is a conservation area. i arrived by bus, but the village was busy i wanted two nights, had to stay in two guest houses. The first was the Ashdale in North Parade, very good and my second night night was at the Cables in Dale Road.also very good. The Cables was opposite the High Tor. cliff. The Ashdale had a giant monkey puzzle tree at the front.--The river is the river Derwent. The bus to Matlock town takes only 6 minutes. The village is in a Gorge, the river and main road running through. Some call it Mini Switzerland.-- The Peak District Lead Mining Museum is in the centre of the village. A modern tourist attraction is the Cable Car up to the Heights of Abraham. It opened in 1984,
and has been modernised since... There is a steep Zig Zag path, if you are fit.
